Bill overview
This bill, the EMS Counts Act, aims to improve the accuracy of data collected on emergency medical services (EMS) professionals in the United States. Currently, the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Standard Occupational Classification system doesn’t fully account for EMS personnel who also hold firefighting roles, such as firefighter/EMTs and firefighter/paramedics. The bill directs the Secretary of Labor to revise the system to include these roles and requires a report to Congress detailing past efforts and the implementation of the revisions.
