Bill overview
This bill directs the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to analyze the potential cost savings of installing on-site systems for treating medical waste at VA facilities. The VA must develop a standardized model to determine which facilities would benefit most from such systems. If a facility is identified as a good candidate, the VA is then required to install and operate an on-site medical waste treatment system. Importantly, the bill does not authorize any additional funding for these installations.
