This bill requires the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to regularly review and adjust the maximum coverage available under Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance (SGLI) and Veterans’ Group Life Insurance (VGLI) programs. Every five years, the VA must assess how the current maximum coverage ($500,000) compares to the average increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) over the previous five fiscal years. The results of this review will be shared with Congress to guide future coverage adjustments.
