Bill overview
This bill, the Empower Charter School Educators to Lead Act, modifies the Charter Schools Program to better support charter school development. It allows state education agencies to provide pre-charter planning grants to prospective charter school developers led by experienced educators, up to $100,000 per applicant. The bill also shifts some funding away from technical assistance to allow states to provide revolving loan funds and facility assistance to applicants before receiving larger grants, and adjusts the percentage of funds allocated for technical assistance.
