Bill overview
This bill, the Filing Relief for Natural Disasters Act, allows the IRS to postpone federal tax deadlines for taxpayers in states that have declared a disaster, upon request from the state’s governor. It expands this relief to include disasters declared by state and local governments, such as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and several U.S. territories. The bill also increases the automatic extension of tax deadline relief to 120 days for certain relief workers, victims of disasters, and those whose homes or businesses are affected.
