Bill overview
The SEIZE Act of 2025 would allow the President to consider weapons and materiel seized during the transit of goods from Iran to the Houthis in Yemen as property of the United States. This would enable the President to utilize these seized items as part of U.S. military stocks and authorize the drawdown of these items to be provided to foreign partners. The bill also requires the President to report annually to Congress on the use of this authority, including the number of times it’s exercised and a list of weapons provided to other countries. This legislation aims to provide a mechanism for utilizing seized Iranian arms to support foreign allies.
