Bill overview
The Linemen Legacy Act clarifies that utility line technicians are considered emergency response providers under federal law. Currently, the Homeland Security Act of 2002 listed specific types of responders. This bill expands that list to include utility line technicians who respond to major disasters or emergencies declared by the President. This change aims to recognize and support the crucial work these technicians do during crises.
