Bill overview
The Sanctioning Russia Act of 2025 aims to increase pressure on the Russian government by imposing a range of economic penalties. If the President determines that Russia is refusing to negotiate a peace agreement with Ukraine, violating an agreement, or initiating another invasion, the bill would authorize visa and property sanctions, significantly raise tariffs on goods imported from Russia, and restrict energy exports to Russia. It also targets financial institutions and prohibits certain investments and transactions involving Russia. The goal is to deter further aggression and hold Russia accountable for its actions.
