Bill overview
This bill, the Nitazene Response Act, directs the Department of Health and Human Services to create and publish guidelines for responding to overdoses involving nitazene and other ultra-potent synthetic opioids. These guidelines will provide recommendations for healthcare providers, emergency services, and rural systems on how to best treat these overdoses, including protocols for administering naloxone. The bill also requires the Secretary to report back to Congress on how these guidelines will be used to combat the growing problem of nitazene-related overdoses.
