Bill overview
This bill, the District of Columbia Courts Home Rule Act, would allow the District of Columbia Council to create and regulate the District’s court system. Currently, Congress has significant control over DC’s court structure, but this legislation would grant the Council more authority to manage its courts. It aims to modernize the DC court system and give the local government greater autonomy in this area. This change would allow the DC Council to determine court organization and jurisdiction.
