Bill overview
This bill, the Police Officers Protecting Children Act, amends federal law to allow certain active and retired law enforcement officers who are authorized to carry concealed firearms to carry those firearms and discharge them in school zones. Specifically, it modifies existing regulations within the National Firearms Act to include qualified law enforcement officers and retired officers in the list of individuals permitted to carry concealed weapons in school zones. The goal of this legislation is to provide law enforcement with the ability to protect children in situations where they may be present in or near schools.
