Bill overview
The Alex Gate Safety Act of 2025 directs the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to create a safety standard for certain gates, including automatic and manual vehicular gates, that are more than 48 inches wide or 84 inches tall. The standard will reference existing ASTM and ANSI/CAN/UL standards and require gates with operators to meet those safety requirements. The bill also mandates a public awareness campaign to educate manufacturers, consumers, and building officials about gate safety and encourages the CPSC to periodically review and update the safety standard.
