Bill overview
This bill, the Energy Efficiency for Affordable Housing Act, aims to increase the amount of tax credits available for rehabilitating affordable housing buildings. It does this by boosting the credit for rehabilitation expenses to 130% for buildings that achieve ‘enhanced energy performance,’ as defined by either meeting advanced building standards or implementing a qualified retrofit plan. Additionally, the bill provides a further increase to 160% for buildings in high-cost areas that meet these enhanced energy performance criteria, with the changes taking effect after December 31, 2025.
