Bill overview
This bill, known as the Bolivar Act, prohibits U.S. executive agencies from contracting with individuals or entities that conduct significant business operations with the government of Venezuela under Nicolás Maduro. However, several exceptions exist, including humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, national security interests, and contracts supported by U.S. government activities. The Secretary of State must notify Congress of contracts granted under these exceptions, and the Act applies to contracts entered into within a three-year period following enactment.
