Bill overview
This bill directs the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct a comprehensive study of foreign purchases of U.S. residential real estate. The study will examine the volume, location, and ownership structures of these purchases, as well as their impact on housing affordability and national security. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will also review the GAO’s findings and provide recommendations to improve transparency and protect access to the housing market for U.S. residents.
