Bill overview
This bill aims to improve safety on federally funded public transit systems by requiring the Department of Transportation to annually report crime statistics to Congress. It also establishes a task force comprised of transit leaders, law enforcement, transit employees, and transit association representatives to recommend ways to enhance safety through regulatory, legislative, or deregulatory actions. The task force will submit interim and final reports to Congress outlining its findings and recommendations.
