Bill overview
This bill, the Supporting Early-childhood Educators’ Deductions Act (SEED Act), expands a current tax deduction available to educators to include early childhood educators. Currently, kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers can deduct up to $300 annually for eligible professional development and classroom expenses. This legislation broadens eligibility to include educators working in early childhood education programs, such as pre-kindergarten, allowing them to claim a similar deduction. The changes will take effect starting in 2026.
