Bill overview
This bill, the Food Eligibility for Education and Development Act of 2025 (FEED Act), aims to make it easier for certain students to qualify for food assistance programs. It modifies the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to exclude income earned by students under 21 participating in career and technical education programs from being considered when determining eligibility. Specifically, income from apprenticeships, internships, and work-based learning programs related to these programs will not be counted. The bill also requires the Secretary of Agriculture to establish verification procedures to ensure students meet the program’s requirements.
