Bill overview
The Innovation in Pediatric Drugs Act of 2025 aims to improve the development of medications for rare diseases affecting children. It strengthens the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) authority to require pediatric studies for certain orphan drugs and allows the FDA to take action against drug companies that don’t comply. The bill also provides funding for pediatric research and requires the FDA to issue guidance on how these changes will be implemented, while also directing the GAO to assess the impact of the legislation on rare disease drug development.
