Bill overview
The Union Members Right to Know Act amends the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959 to require labor organizations to provide detailed disclosures to their members. These disclosures include a copy of the act, summaries of relevant legal rights (including religious accommodation and employee rights from Communications Workers v. Beck), and information about how dues are used. The act also restricts the use of union dues for activities unrelated to collective bargaining or contract administration unless specifically authorized by the member.
