Bill overview
This bill, the LIVE Beneficiaries Act, requires state Medicaid programs to regularly check the Social Security Administration’s Death Master File to identify Medicaid recipients who have passed away. States must review this file at least quarterly to ensure accurate enrollment records. If a deceased individual is identified, their Medicaid coverage will be terminated, and payments will cease (except for pre-death services). The bill also includes a process for states to correct errors and reinstate coverage if a beneficiary was mistakenly identified as deceased.
