Bill overview
The STOP China Act aims to protect U.S. national security and competitiveness by restricting the use of federal funds for purchasing vehicles and vehicle technologies produced in or by entities based in China. It establishes a list of ‘covered entities’ – including companies owned or controlled by China – and prohibits federal agencies from procuring vehicles or related infrastructure that utilize their products. The bill also directs the U.S. Trade Representative to publicly release a list of these covered entities and requires regular updates to the list. It includes exceptions for inspections and safety research.
