Bill overview
This bill would give Congress the ability to quickly reject laws passed by the District of Columbia Council that are enacted during emergencies. Currently, the Council can enact emergency legislation without waiting for congressional review. This bill would require Congress to consider and vote on whether to disapprove of such emergency legislation within 90 days, unless a disapproval resolution is passed sooner. It aims to provide Congress with more oversight over laws enacted by the District of Columbia in urgent situations.
