Bill overview
This bill, known as the Protect Our Law enforcement with Immigration Control and Enforcement Act of 2025 or the POLICE Act, makes assaulting a law enforcement officer, firefighter, or other first responder a deportable offense for non-U.S. citizens. It specifically outlines that any alien convicted of, admitting to, or committing an assault against such an official – while performing their duties or due to their status – can be deported. The Department of Homeland Security will also be required to publish an annual report detailing the number of aliens deported under this law.
