Bill overview
The Job Protection Act modifies the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to broaden who is eligible for leave and which employers must provide it. Specifically, it increases the minimum length of employment required to qualify for FMLA leave to 90 days with an employer, and it extends this requirement to federal, presidential, and congressional employees. Additionally, the bill lowers the employee count threshold for employers subject to FMLA requirements to just one employee. Leave must be taken on or after the date the bill becomes law.
