Bill overview
The AIM Act aims to improve the ability of law enforcement to enforce gun safety laws by removing several restrictions placed on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Specifically, it eliminates limitations on firearms trace data, prohibits the use of trace data to draw broad conclusions about crime, and removes prohibitions related to record consolidation, inventory checks, and denial of licenses. The bill also addresses issues concerning importation of firearms and standards for Federal firearms license revocation and eligibility.
