Bill overview
This bill requires the Department of Defense to provide alternative drinking water to households whose private wells are contaminated with perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) substances, stemming from Department of Defense activities. The provision of alternative water will be offered if a downgradient household exists, their well contamination exceeds EPA standards, and another household in the same community already received similar assistance. The Department must coordinate with existing environmental response efforts and consider whether municipal water systems have already addressed the contamination.
