Bill overview
The STEM Restoring Employment Skills through Targeted Assistance, Re-entry, and Training Act (STEM RESTART Act) aims to help mid-career skilled workers re-enter or transition into STEM industries. It creates a new federal program that provides grants to small and medium-sized STEM businesses to offer ‘returnship’ programs – paid internships or similar opportunities – that lead to full-time positions above entry-level. These programs will prioritize workers from rural areas and unemployed/underemployed individuals, with a focus on providing training and support to help them succeed in in-demand STEM roles.
