Bill overview
The Healthcare Workforce Resilience Act aims to address shortages of nurses and physicians in the United States by increasing the number of available immigrant visas. It does this by reallocating unused employment-based immigrant visas from previous years, prioritizing professional nurses (25,000 visas) and physicians (15,000 visas). The bill also includes expedited processing and premium processing options for these visa applications to speed up the immigration process, and requires employers to attest that hiring foreign nurses and physicians will not displace U.S. workers.
