Bill overview
The Family First Act makes permanent changes to the Child Tax Credit and introduces a new credit for pregnant mothers. It increases the Child Tax Credit by expanding the applicable percentage and adjusting for inflation, allowing up to six qualifying children. Additionally, it creates a new credit of $2,800 for each qualifying unborn child whose gestational age is 20 weeks or greater. The bill also simplifies the Earned Income Credit, eliminates the head of household filing status, and adjusts certain provisions related to exemptions and deductions.
