Bill overview
This bill amends immigration law to treat certain drunk driving offenses as ‘aggravated felonies.’ Specifically, it expands the definition of an aggravated felony under the Immigration and Nationality Act to include convictions for driving under the influence, impaired, or under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or illegal narcotics that result in death or serious injury. Conviction of these offenses would make an alien inadmissible to the United States. The changes will take effect upon the bill’s passage.
