Bill overview
The Strengthening Local Processing Act of 2025 aims to support smaller and very small meat and poultry processing establishments by providing grants, a searchable database of validation studies, and model Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans. It increases federal cost-sharing for state inspection programs and the Cooperative Interstate Shipment program, and establishes a grant program for career training. The bill also seeks to improve outreach to states with meat and poultry inspection programs that don't participate in interstate shipping.
