Bill overview
The SHUSH Act aims to significantly alter the regulation of silencers (also known as suppressors) in the United States. It removes silencers from federal firearm laws, effectively eliminating registration and licensing requirements under the National Firearms Act and the Gun Control Act. The bill also preempts state and local laws that tax or regulate silencers, permits law enforcement officers to carry concealed silencers, and excludes silencers from regulation by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
