Bill overview
The Yes in God’s Backyard Act aims to increase the supply of affordable rental housing by providing technical assistance and grants to faith-based organizations, higher education institutions, and local governments. It does this by amending the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act to establish programs for removing barriers to developing and preserving affordable housing on properties owned by these entities. The bill also creates a challenge grant program to incentivize states and local governments to adopt policies that support the creation of affordable housing.
