Bill overview
This bill, the Medal of Sacrifice Act, proposes to create a new medal to honor law enforcement officers and first responders who die in the line of duty. The medal will be overseen by a Commission established by the President, which will advise on its design and determine eligibility. Specifically, officers found to have acted improperly during their duty will not be eligible for the medal. The Commission will initially award the medal to three fallen deputies and will eventually cease to exist once its responsibilities are fulfilled.
