Bill overview
This bill, the Alzheimer's Screening and Prevention Act (ASAP Act), aims to expand Medicare coverage for blood-based tests used to detect early signs of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Starting January 1, 2028, Medicare will cover these screenings, which include genomic sequencing tests and other blood-based analyses deemed equivalent by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The bill also adjusts Medicare payment procedures to reflect this new coverage.
