Bill overview
The Promoting United States Leadership in Standards Act of 2025 aims to strengthen the U.S.’s role in developing technical standards for emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence. The bill directs the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the State Department to provide Congress with information on existing standards activities and to establish a web portal for industry and agencies to participate. It also creates a pilot program to support hosting standards meetings in the U.S., and assesses the feasibility of establishing a permanent program to continue this support.
