Overview
The Bumping Unlawful Machinegun Parts Act (BUMP Act) prohibits the import, sale, manufacture, transfer, and possession of devices designed to increase the rate of fire of a semiautomatic firearm, or semiautomatic firearms that have been modified to achieve a similar effect. It expands the definition of a ‘semiautomatic firearm’ and adds modifications that increase the rate of fire to the list of items regulated under the National Firearms Act. The bill also establishes a registration process for existing modified semiautomatic firearms.
