Bill overview
This bill amends the Southwest Forest Health and Wildfire Prevention Act of 2004 to create a new Institute within that act, specifically the Utah Wildfire Research Institute. This Institute will operate under the same principles as existing similar Institutes in Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado, which focus on using adaptive ecosystem management to reduce wildfire risk and restore forest health. The bill formally recognizes Utah as a state eligible to participate in this program.
