Bill overview
The Advancing Grid-Enhancing Technologies Act of 2025 aims to encourage investment in technologies that improve the reliability and efficiency of the electric grid. It directs the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to create a ‘shared savings incentive,’ returning a portion of the cost savings from grid-enhancing investments to the companies that install them. The bill also requires utilities to report on congestion costs and establishes a guide for implementing these technologies, and includes a review and potential sunset of the incentive after seven years.
