Bill overview
This bill directs the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct a comprehensive study of how effectively wildfire mitigation efforts work across different types of land ownership – including federal and non-federal areas. The study will examine existing programs and regulations, identify barriers to coordinated wildfire prevention, and assess whether changes could improve collaboration between federal agencies, state and local governments, and tribal nations. Ultimately, the GAO will provide recommendations to streamline wildfire mitigation strategies across these boundaries.
