Bill overview
The Clear Labels Act aims to increase transparency in the pharmaceutical supply chain by requiring drug labels to include detailed information about the original manufacturer and the entire supply chain. Specifically, labels must now identify the manufacturer, packer, or distributor, along with a link to an electronic portal containing this information. The bill also mandates that active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) be clearly labeled with the original manufacturer’s details. Finally, it exempts finished drug products labeled according to the new requirements from customs country of origin marking regulations.
