Bill overview
The DOULA for VA Act of 2026 aims to improve the health outcomes of pregnant veterans by establishing a five-year pilot program providing doula services through the Department of Veterans Affairs. This program will expand the VA’s Whole Health model to measure the impact of doula support on maternal and mental health, as well as infant care. The bill seeks to address disparities in maternal health experienced by certain veteran populations, particularly women of advanced maternal age and Black or African American veterans.
