Bill overview
This bill, the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Coin Act, directs the Treasury Secretary to mint and issue commemorative coins – $5 gold, $1 silver, and half-dollar clad – to honor the service and sacrifice of firefighters throughout U.S. history. The coins will feature designs emblematic of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial, and proceeds from sales, including a surcharge, will be donated to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The coins will be issued in limited quantities between January 1, 2029, and sold to the public, with prepaid orders receiving a discount.
