Bill overview
The Maverick Act authorizes the U.S. Navy to donate three surplus F-14D Tomcat fighter jets to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The transfer will be made without cost to the government, subject to specific conditions including limitations on combat capabilities and requirements for maintenance and operation. The Commission can partner with nonprofit organizations to restore and display the aircraft for public events, but the Navy retains oversight and the ability to reclaim the aircraft if conditions aren't met.
