Bill overview
This joint resolution proposes an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would give Congress and state governments more authority to regulate campaign finance. Specifically, it would allow them to set limits on how much money can be contributed to and spent on elections, and to establish public financing systems for political campaigns. These systems could be designed to reduce the impact of private wealth on elections, potentially by offsetting private spending with public funds. The amendment also allows for distinctions to be made between individuals and organizations, such as corporations, in how campaign finance rules are applied.
