Bill overview
This bill temporarily amends the District of Columbia’s electricity regulations to protect residents from service disconnection. If a court overturns a utility’s rate plan and sends it back for revision, the utility cannot shut off electricity service during the period between the court order and the approval of a new plan. This protection lasts for 15 days after the remand period ends. The bill is designed to provide a short-term safeguard for consumers while the regulatory process is ongoing.
