Overview
This bill establishes legal procedures for children born through surrogacy in Alabama. It requires probate courts to confirm the identity of the intended parents and ensure the child is directly relinquished to them. If an intended parent cannot be present, the State Department of Human Resources will temporarily hold custody until the parent provides documentation and retrieves the child. Hospitals and birthing centers must also adopt policies to comply with these requirements.
