The Safe Neighborhoods Amendment Act of 2025 aims to improve public safety and community engagement in the District of Columbia. It establishes a new Office of Neighborhood Engagement and Safety Agency to coordinate violence prevention efforts and enhance recruitment and retention within the Metropolitan Police Department. The bill also includes conforming amendments to existing legislation and creates a study for the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety and Justice regarding youth recruitment tactics. Finally, it modifies the First Responder benefits program to provide enhanced housing assistance.
