Bill overview
This bill increases the monetary threshold for mandatory nonbinding arbitration in civil actions in Nevada. Currently, arbitration is required for cases under $50,000. This bill raises that threshold to $100,000 per plaintiff. It also revises rules governing arbitration programs overseen by the Nevada Supreme Court, including arbitrator compensation, attorney’s fees, and types of cases excluded from arbitration. Furthermore, the bill allows for ‘short trials’ in certain circumstances, with the possibility of awarding attorney’s fees to the prevailing party.
